High standards for a mosquito and tick repellent for babies and toddlers

Babies and toddlers in particular need safe mosquito protection. Not every product is suitable as insect repellent for the little ones.

When choosing a mosquito repellent cream for children, it is especially important to avoid risky ingredients:

• Solvents, alcohols and cooling substances such as mint and menthol don't belong in a cream for your children. They can cause hypothermia much faster in smaller bodies than in adults. This can disrupt the blood-brain barrier, which in turn can lead to hallucinations. These substances also cause severe stinging in the eyes and on mucous membranes.
• Essential oils can trigger allergic reactions in babies. In the worst case, there is a risk of life-threatening respiratory blockage.

Active ingredient in Ballistol Stichfrei Kids & Family

Repellent: 10% ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate.

Protecting your family starts with the right active ingredient. In Stichfrei Kids & Family cream, Ballistol deliberately uses the repellent IR 3535 (ethyl butylacetylaminopropionate). This active ingredient is recommended by the WHO (World Health Organization) and the French Ministry of Health for babies from 2 months and for pregnant women.

IR 3535 provides reliable protection, but ranks third in effectiveness after DEET and Icaridin.

Ballistol Stichfrei Kids & Family also completely avoids unnecessary additives.

For children aged 2 and over:

• From the age of 2, you can use Ballistol Stichfrei insect repellent with the active ingredient Icaridin, which offers even stronger insect protection.
• For pregnant women and toddlers from 6 months, Ballistol Stichfrei Sensitive mosquito spray is the perfect solution. It uses Icaridin in a lower concentration.

How to use Stichfrei Kids & Family cream

Ballistol Stichfrei Kids & Family is a ready-to-use lotion that reliably protects your family against mosquitoes and ticks in temperate climate zones.

Apply the cream evenly to all uncovered parts of the body – face, arms, legs and feet – taking care to avoid the eyes, irritated skin and wounds. The cream is absorbed particularly quickly, which significantly reduces the risk of accidentally rubbing it into eyes or mucous membranes.

If you are also using sunscreen or other cosmetics, wait 20 minutes before applying Stichfrei Kids & Family. Do not combine with other insect repellents.

For adults, it is recommended to apply the lotion twice a day with approx. 10.6 ml each time for optimum protection.

If you are planning trips to areas with very high humidity, we recommend our specially developed "Stichfrei mosquito repellent spray for the tropics". It keeps you well protected in exotic regions too.

Use on babies, toddlers and children

For safe and effective mosquito protection, take particular care when applying the cream to your children. Children under 12 always need your help. Apply the cream to the face particularly carefully, always avoiding the eye area.

Recommended daily dose for your children:

• Babies (2 to 12 months): 2.6 ml
• Toddlers (1 to 2 years): 3.1 ml
• Children (2 to 6 years): 4.3 ml
• Children (6 to 12 years): 5.9 ml

This way you can protect your little ones optimally against annoying mosquitoes and other insects.

Pregnancy

You are also protected during pregnancy with Stichfrei Kids & Family mosquito repellent cream. The active ingredient IR 3535 is recommended by the WHO for pregnant women for protection against mosquitoes and ticks.

Ballistol Stichfrei Kids & Family is available as a lotion in a 30 ml or 125 ml tube.
